With over two decades of leadership experience in the global satellite communications industry, Gerbrand Schalkwijk has built a career at the intersection of innovation, connectivity, and commercial excellence. As Vice President of Portfolio and Commercial Management for Marlink’s Maritime Business Unit, he leads strategy across portfolio management, commercial intelligence, pricing, customer solutions engineering and sales enablement, ensuring Marlink continues to deliver smart solutions that enable digital transformation at sea.

Before joining Marlink, Gerbrand spent more than twenty years at Inmarsat and its predecessors,where he played a pivotal role in driving growth across maritime and enterprise sectors. As Deputy President & COO of Inmarsat Maritime, he led the company’s global operations and commercial strategy, expanding service availability and shaping the adoption of next-generation satellite communications worldwide. Earlier roles at Inmarsat and Stratos saw him lead commercial teams across Energy, Enterprise and Asia Pacific, with a consistent focus on connecting the world’s most remote industries.

Gerbrand’s career began in the early years of mobile satellite communications, building deep expertise across airtime, VSAT and global connectivity solutions. His leadership has consistently bridged technology and customer value, advancing how the maritime industry communicates, operates and innovates.
