Conferences
Europort will run a series of panel discussions in the Smart Stage to foster maritime innovation and digital leadership. Hosted in the Digitalisation Zone on the exhibition floor and accessible to all visitors, these panels are designed to spark high-level discussions between leading suppliers, shipowners, ports, startups, and regulators.
In cooperation with SeasHorizons:
- Tue. 4 Nov. Digital Transformation & Data-Driven Shipping
- Wed. 5 Nov. Automation, Intelligent Systems & the Human Element
- Thu. 6 Nov. FuelEU Maritime in Action, Decarbonisation & Compliance
- Fri. 7 Nov. Smart Maritime Futures: Wrap-Up & Open Forum
The 24th Mare Forum Ship Finance Conference will again be held in conjunction with Europort. Known for its brizling and dynamic debates the conference targets leading executives and experts from the shipping industry. Ship owners, financiers, investors, regulators, charterers and service providers will discuss all important shipping and ship finance themes in a holistic approach and exchange thoughts and visions on finance and investment models for today and the near future.
The Maritime Technologies Forum (MTF), comprising leading classification societies and flag state administrations, aims to bridge the gap between technology and regulatory progress. MTF will share a to-be released MTF report entitled "Guidelines for conducting qualitative risk assessments for alternative fuelled ships: HAZID and HAZOP” in a dedicated seminar on 6 November, from 10:00 to 13:00 CET, during Europort 2025. The report’s lead author will present the findings and key points from the publication followed by two panel discussions with industry leaders.

Wind Assisted Propulsion System (WAPS) technologies are getting more and more attention in the shipping industry, being one of the few readily available and scalable technologies to decarbonise shipping operations. However, decision makers are hesitant to fully embrace the potential of using the natural forces of the wind in their operations. Reasons for this is the lack of reliable data on its savings potential as well as issues with integration of the technology with conventional ship propulsion (European Commission, 2024).
Winds4Change aims to accelerate the use of wind propulsion in the Netherlands with innovations such as rotor sails, rigid wing sails and suction sails. Winds4Change not only looks at technological innovations, but also at market opportunities and policy developments. In France for instance, parties are taking wind propulsion development very seriously; so much so that there is now a bill to include the use of wind propulsion as an option to reduce CO2 emissions from shipping to zero.
This Winds4Change seminar at Europort seeks to be the 'blue glue’ between innovation and economic growth, bringing together stakeholders from across the maritime ecosystem in The Netherlands and abroad in an attempt to shape a collaborative approach towards the adoption and diffusion of wind-assisted technologies in shipping.
Winds4Change is a collaborative research project by TU Delft, Erasmus UPT, funded by Resilient Delta Initiative.
This seminar is free to attend for Europort visitors.

Shaping the Future
The Fisheries Innovation Network (FIN) is the leading independent network for everyone who can contribute to innovations in the fisheries sector. With more than 180 Dutch members and a growing number of international partners, FIN brings together various stakeholders, from fishermen to shipyards, from suppliers to factories and from technical universities to cooperatives. Together, FIN works to find ways to tackle the great challenges of our time, such as the energy transition, maintaining and restoring ecological systems, ensuring a healthy diet for all, while at the same time maintaining a solid business case for our fishing industry.
On Friday 7 November, FIN will host an interesting knowledge sharing program, exploring new ideas, developments and solutions for sustainable and profitable fishing; from fishing vessel design and fishing methods to digitization, co-use of the North Sea, and new business models. Have you always thought of the fisheries sector as conservative and traditional? Find out during Europort and meet the resilient, innovative, and sea-hardened partners who will shape the future of the fishery industry. Admittance is free of charge for members of the Fisheries Innovation Network, provided they register before October 10th on the FIN website. More information will follow at a later date.
