At this year’s Europort, the spotlight shone on the future of the maritime industry with YoungEuroport, a new initiative that connected and inspired the next generation of maritime professionals. Held on Friday 7 November at Rotterdam Ahoy, the event brought together students, young professionals, and companies eager to collaborate on shaping a smarter, more sustainable maritime sector.

Throughout the day, participants took part in a dynamic programme designed to foster learning and connection. The Young Maritime Breakfast set the tone with lively networking and speed-pitch sessions linking student ambitions with company opportunities. During the Finance Debate, young professionals tackled real-world shipping finance challenges, guided by experienced experts.

Innovation took centre stage at the Innovation Connection Meeting, where partners such as RMI and NML explored themes like circular shipbuilding, wind-assisted propulsion, and digitalisation. A relaxed Network Lunch followed, encouraging open discussion and new partnerships. The day concluded with Guided Student Tours, giving participants first-hand insight into Europort’s key themes of sustainability, innovation, and energy transition.

By creating space for young voices and fresh ideas, YoungEuroport proved a powerful addition to this year’s exhibition. It not only highlighted the enthusiasm and creativity of emerging maritime talent but also underscored Europort’s commitment to building a resilient, forward-looking industry.
