New director of Rotterdam Port Promotion Council introduces herself at Europort 2023

Exciting and busy times for Hedi Visscher. The new director of the Rotterdam Port Promotion Council (RPPC) started her new job last week and is already representing the Port of Rotterdam and 12 member companies at their booth at Europort 2023 for the next four days.

A significant part of Visscher's career has been dedicated to maritime innovations. She worked as a commercial manager at Smit International and Dockwise, followed by 12 years as an independent entrepreneur. Later, she became the Business Developer for Sustainable Shipping at InnovationQuarter and the director of PortXL. "I can now combine all my experience in the maritime industry  as the director of RPPC. It's a wonderful foundation with 280 members in and around the Rotterdam port, and we organize various events for them both in the Netherlands and abroad, under the banner of Port of Rotterdam."

Crucial topics

Visscher proudly states that she is honored to represent and support RPPC and help it grow, both in terms of membership and content. "Sustainability and energy transition will be crucial topics in the coming years. They concern all of us and will certainly impact the processes and businesses in the port. But we can only achieve this together. It helps that RPPC is such a close-knit group. We want Rotterdam to remain the largest port in Europe, and we want the cargo flows to keep coming to Rotterdam. This means continuous development. Innovation is never a solo effort. Moreover, it is often risky and exciting. Having someone you already know by your side makes a difference. I hope to play the role of a connector in this process."

According to Visscher, the strength of RPPC lies in the fact that people know each other well and trust one another. "This greatly facilitates business dealings and can also facilitate significant progress in sustainability. RPPC's events contribute to strengthening relationships in the port, both in Rotterdam and the surrounding areas. And that is important because people do business with people. When you know each other better, it leads to shared success more quickly."
