Date: Wednesday 8th of November
Time: 10.00 - 13.30 (incl. network lunch)
There are other reasons for gaining insight into fuel use and emissions. CO2 emissions from maritime transport, for example, are subject to new regulations from both the European Commission and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The European Monitoring Reporting and Verification system will be operational as of 2018 and applies to ships above 5000 GT arriving and departing from EU ports, regardless of their flag and ownership. The IMO data collection system, also applies to ships above 5000 GT, is currently being finalized and will be in place as of the 1st of January 2019.Ship energy efficiency is a concern for shipping companies and fleet managers. Efficient use of energy saves costs and limits emissions. Getting insight into the use of energy could help shipping companies perform better using the same amount of fuel. In this way energy management contributes to a profitable and sustainable business model.
