SAFETY4SEA & Europort are delighted to announce the CAREER4SEA EUROPORT Awards within the scope of fostering Excellence & Career in Shipping. The process to be employed is a combination of open nomination and vote while the winners announcement and presentation along with four panel discussions with the winners shall take place at the Plaza Speakers Corner (10.30-12.00) at the Europort 2019 on 8 November, in Rotterdam Ahoy. To be awarded to any organization (University, Maritime Academy or other institution) that has advanced maritime education in any aspect, acting as an industry leader developing younger generations in shipping

Besides this, the CareerLab offers a diversified programme, focussed on labour market communication, educational opportunities and help with applying and resumés.

The student programme is a highly successful initiative that enables promising students to attend Dredging Days. Under this programme CEDA offers a considerable number of free registrations to graduate and postgraduate students. This is the launch of Shipathon 2020. This Shipathon is a maritime hackathon for 120 students and young professionals. The participants work 18 hours and 52 minutes, a nautical mile in time, on three innovation challenges on Power of the Ocean, Maritime Intelligence and Healthy Seas. They design and conceptualize the best solutions to make sea going vessels smarter. Click here for more information.
The main purpose of this seminar organised by YoungShip Rotterdam is to increase its exposure among talented young professionals that operate in the maritime industry. Moreover, they want to briefly elaborate their companies identity. At last they should share the latest trends in the maritime sector rearding on "Special ships, smart solutions”.
This inclusive seminar touches upon the Europort theme "Special ships, smart solutions”. As the interest of the Jong Havenvereniging- and YoungShip-members is diverse we have chosen for three different lectures that are specialized in their playing field. Moreover we want to have a mixture of people elaborating on the business within the maritime industry alternated with more soft skills required for day-to-day practises.
The seminar will be concluded with a networking drink. During this social happening there is room discussion with the presenter and at last a pub quiz will be presented to the attendees. The TU Delft Solar Boat Team consists of 19 motivated engineers from seven different faculties, who want to have a positive impact on the maritime world. To achieve this goal, we compete in the Monaco Open Sea Solar & Energy Challenge to show the possibilities and the power of solar energy and efficient designs. Last year we became World Champions in Monaco, this year the challenge is even bigger. The race will be longer. We will push the boundaries of technology, push the team to its limits and together with our partners build our best boat yet! This way we can make the next step towards a sustainable maritime world!
Solar Boat Twente is a multidisciplinair student team that focuses on designing and building a solar boat in one year. They try to encourage and raise awareness about sustainability in the maritime sector. During the Solar Sport One competition in 2020 the team will try to race to a podium position by building a trustworthy 'flying' boat. In this competition the team will work towords the World Championships in Monaco!
WASUB is a Dreamteam consisting of members of the TU Delft and the VU Amsterdam. It is a team of more than 25 students originating from all kind of different studies. Together we design, build and race a human-powered submarine with the joint goal of becoming the World Champions!
SOLID is a team of students from Eindhoven University of Technology that aims to create an ecosystem for metal fuels as circular energy carriers. Together with our partners we are currently developing world’s first industrial application of an iron powder based energy storage system. Iron powder as a fuel is circular, compact, easy to store and transport, CO2-free and above all, safe - the solution for the maritime industry.
