In April 2011 Ahoy signed the official cooperation contract with the Chinese exhibition organiser UAEC to jointly organise the China International Marine, Port & Shipbuilding Fair (CIMPS) together. The next edition of this upcoming exhibition will be held from 23 until 25 May 2012 in Nanjing, the capital city of Jiangsu Province under the new brand name CIMPS-Europort.
Jiangsu is by far the number 1 shipbuilding region in China. It has an accomplished shipbuilding output accounting for 35% in China and newly received orders accounting for 39% in China. The Jiangsu region is focusing more and more on advanced technology and special purpose ships. Because the local supply industry cannot live up to the increased demand, some 70% of all equipment has to be imported. This offers huge opportunities for international maritime suppliers.
CIMPS-Europort is organised in close cooperation with the Jiangsu Department of Commerce and is strongly supported by important government sectors, the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI), the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineering (CSNAME) and China Ship-owners Association (CSA).
